Redemption in Christ

”Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,“

Bless the Lord today, oh my soul! I don’t know about you, friend, but I have been waking up fatigued the past few mornings. It’s been a full few weeks since this year has kicked off, and I’ve had to contend for discipline and rising early to seek the face of Jesus. This year I have determined in my soul that no matter what or how I feel, I must rise and bless the Lord.

Reading this verse today reminded me that He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Sometimes we may not see a blessing immediately here on earth, but we have to remember that our blessings are in heavenly places in Christ.

Today, seek the heavenly places. I am often reminded of that old song, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus/Look full in his wonderful face/And the things of earth will grow strangely dim/In the light of his glory and grace.” That imagery has always captivated me—the things of earth being overshadowed by the things of Heaven. What would happen if we pulled down Heaven into our daily lives? When we can take our eyes off of just looking at this fleeting world that’s in front of us, and set them on the eternal Kingdom, we are able to see those heavenly/spiritual blessings much more clearly.

Today, I am praying that we would go with the Lord to those heavenly places. As we spend time seeking His face in worship, knowing Him through His Word and communing with Him in prayer, we would be able to see those spiritual blessings. We are able to have holy perspectives over the things concerning our daily, earthly lives. If you’re feeling weary, command your soul to bless the Lord. Give thanks to the God who has given us redemption in Christ Jesus. We are no longer bound to the things of this world. Through the redemption of Christ, the veil has been torn, and we can have daily fellowship with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit.
